Ever wonder why Austin Texas is known as the Live Music Capital of the World®? The slogan became official in 1991, after it was discovered that Austin, Texas had more live music venues per capita than anywhere else in the nation. Austin is home to some of the most popular music festivals in the country.
 
Austin City Limits is an American live music television program recorded produced by Austin PBS. The show helped Austin become widely known in the United States as the "Live Music Capital of the World", and is the only television show to receive the National Medal of Arts, which it was awarded in 2003. It also won a rare institutional Peabody Award in 2011 "for its more than three decades of presenting and preserving eclectic American musical genres.

Moody Theater plays host to Austin City Limits. Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater (ACL Live) is a state-of-the-art, 2,750-person capacity live music venue that hosts approximately 100 concerts a year. It serves as the permanent home for the taping of the acclaimed KLRU-TV produced PBS series, Austin City Limits, the longest running music series in American television history.

 

Austin City Limits Music Festival is held every year over the course of two weekends, it brings together literally hundreds of musical acts, and it’s always a crazy good time.
